Baked Apples vegetarian
Want something sweet and desserty without all the work and calories? This easy and simple dessert has lightly sweetened, homemade rich flavors and a crunchy texture. This topping also works great on pears or peaches. When I’ve accidentally cut a pear before it had ripened enough for raw eating, I’ll roast the pear halves in the oven until soft. The oven roasting brings out the natural sugars in the fruit and caramelizes it. So delicious!

ingredient details & prep

  • 2 apples, halved and cored
  • 1 tbl maple syrup
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup granola
  • 1/2 tbl melted butter

Heat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Arrange apples on baking sheet, cut sides up. Drizzle maple syrup on top and sprinkle with sugar. Combine granola and butter, sprinkle over apples. Baked 30 minutes until apples are soft and topping is lightly browned.

Other options: Try pears or peaches in place of apples. Try a flavored granola cereal, such as Target’s Archer Farm’s Maple French Toast granola. Top with whipped cream or serve with ice cream.
