Just a short drive over the North Cause­way towards New Smyrna Beach you will find a quaint café with vivid ocean blue decor and an al fresco din­ing expe­ri­ence. Café Heav­enly wel­comes not only hun­gry veg beach goers, but canines as well.

We sat out­side with the dogs and the Café Heav­enly staff came out to not only admire our furry com­pan­ions, but to give them a treat as well. They gave them each a lit­tle cup of frozen yogurt with a Milk­bone in it while we enjoyed our lunch.
Café Heavenly’s motto is “stay healthy,” with a menu focused on sand­wiches, sal­ads, wraps, soups, smooth­ies and gelato. My guest and I shared a cup of fla­vor­ful veg­e­tar­ian style Cuban black bean soup. Although the soup was deli­cious, it came out only warm, not pip­ping hot. I also enjoyed the hum­mus and veg­gie roll-up on a spinach tor­tilla. It was a tasty com­bi­na­tion of house-made hum­mus, crunchy almonds, warm rice, let­tuce, black olives, sprouts and tangy herb vinai­grette. Other veg friendly menu items include:

Board­walks at New Smyrna Dunes Park

New Smyrna Dunes Park and dog beach on Ponce De Leon inlet is located on the north­ern tip of New Smyrna Beach penin­sula. A $5 a car entrance fee will get you and your furry friend into one of the best dog friendly beaches in all of Florida. Dogs must remain on a leash, but it is fair trade for a beau­ti­ful stretch of white sanded beach and clear blue water you and your dog will immensely enjoy. The park is also home to a wide vari­ety of ani­mals in their nat­ural habi­tat. You can walk on over 2 miles of ele­vated board­walk while watch­ing dol­phins jump through the water, land tur­tles mean­der across the dunes and do a vari­ety of bird watching.
