Uncommon Shopping in Seaside

Unique Markets Near the Beach

Seaside Market FruitFamily-owned and operated for over 20 years, Modica Market in the Central Square of Seaside, Florida offers many gourmet and specialty items.  Modica Market has a nice selection of fresh produce, exotic mushrooms, nuts, gourmet chips, crackers & snacks, specialty & locally made sauces and dips, hard to find gourmet pastas, boutique wines and micro brewery beers. My favorite brands are well stocked within the market: Rice Dream, Newman’s Own, Larabar, Bob’s Red Mill, Burt’s Bees, Kiss My Face, and Seventh Generation. Coffee is ready at 7 a.m. every morning and they offer breakfast and lunch items, which can be enjoyed outside the store on their patio or can easily be taken to the nearby beach.

Since you will most likely be on vacation while visiting Modica Market, try the fresh-squeezed orange juice mimosa

They also offer an online grocery selection and local delivery for a small fee. Modica Market has been given some unique recognition by being seen in the movie The Truman Show, highlighted in CNN’s On the Menu and has been featured in many magazines such as Vogue, Travel & Leisure and Southern Living.

Seaside Perspicasity market

Perspicasity: A Beachside Bazaar is on the walk from the Modica Market to the beach. This open air retail store is a unique haven of well-made accessories, jewelry and natural fiber made clothing. The colors and soft textures of the clothing reflect Seaside’s principles of relaxed living and the natural, vibrant colors of the surrounding area. Pretty sun dresses, light cotton tops and beachy hats are a few of the apparel items featured at Perspicasity. The prices of the clothing reflect the fashionable, beautifully-unique and well-made merchandise, on the higher end for my budget ($100-$400 an item.)

I did find some unique jewelry and accessory items within my budget to purchase as gifts and for myself. I purchased a horseshoe shaped luggage tag with hand stitching for my horse-loving mother. For my sisters, I purchased colorful beaded bracelets, which would add a bright splash of color to any outfit. I wore my bracelet the same day I purchased it and received many compliments throughout the day! Accessories were priced $10-$20 an item.
