Halfway between Des­tin and Panama City, along the Emer­ald Coast waters, lies fairy­tale beach towns on County Road 30A.  Among those beach towns is the mas­ter planned com­mu­nity of Sea­side. Wooden cus­tom cot­tages, wide porches and a com­ple­men­tary color palette to the bor­der­ing gulf waters makes Sea­side the vision of a beach town ideal.

While enjoy­ing the beau­ti­ful beach at Sea­side, one may find hunger and thirst of neces­sity to quench. For­tu­nately, within walk­ing dis­tance from the beach, is a row of Airstream trail­ers offer­ing culi­nary delight for all tastes.

Raw & Juicy organic juice bar and café offers super nutri­tious and fresh raw vegan fare includ­ing break­fast and lunch items. Juices and smooth­ies are made fresh to order from organic and locally grown fruits and veg­eta­bles. Try the ‘Beetle­juice’ made of apple, beet, gin­ger and lime or the ‘Pink Pan­ther’ smoothie made from straw­ber­ries, bananas and fresh apple.

Their menu also includes heartier items such as a gra­nola bowl, oat­meal or a par­fait. For lunch, try spring rolls made with car­rots, zuc­chini, herbs, scal­lions and a peanut dip­ping sauce. Also avail­able for lunch are black beans and rice and a veg­gie hum­mus wrap with cucum­ber, green pep­per, avo­cado, spinach and sprouts. Before head­ing back to the beach be sure to grab a bag of crispy kale chips for snaking on later.

Bare­foot BBQ Airstream

Bare­foot BBQ offers a few tasty veg­e­tar­ian options for more robust tastes. When you place your order at the left win­dow, they give you a num­bered flip flop for your order. Pay atten­tion to the right win­dow because the staff pops their head out and hollers on a mega­phone when your order is ready for pick up. Any item can be sauced up with the add-your-own hot sauces pro­vided for patrons at the nearby tables or at the pick up win­dow. Sauces include:

• Hang Ten: tra­di­tional, tomato base, brown sugar and bourbon
• Wipe out: vine­gar, light, tart and fruity
• Pipeline: mus­tard base, sweet and spicy
• Hot Lava: spicy with cayenne and pep­per sauce

Veg­e­tar­ian menu items are lim­ited, but the few they offer use local grow­ers from organic farms. I ordered the por­to­bello sand­wich dur­ing my visit. The mush­room was per­fectly cooked and juicy. The spinach top­ping was fresh and the Texas toast was per­fectly toasted and the right com­bi­na­tion of tex­tures of the crispy bread with a slightly chewy con­sis­tency.  I sauced up my sand­wich by try­ing every sauce with a dif­fer­ent bite. I’d say the hang ten was my favorite. Veg­e­tar­ian menu items to try:

• Spinach salad: local spinach, toma­toes, car­rots, cucum­ber, Texas toast, ranch or basil vinai­grette. Add a por­to­bello for $4 more
• Por­to­bello sand­wich: local spinach and gar­lic & jalapeño aioli served on Texas toast
• Corn on the cob
• Small green salad, potato salad
• Cole slaw, mac & cheese
